Magnus Asbjornsson is a co-founder and board member of Reykjavik Geothermal (RG). He leads RG’s development activities in Africa and the Middle East, including the negotiation of the two 500 MW Power Purchase Agreements and Implementation Agreements agreement signed with the Government of Ethiopia and Ethiopian Electric Power in December 2017. He is currently responsible for the ensuing development and financing of the twin US$2 Bn 500 MW Corbetti and Tulu Moye geothermal projects, expected to be Africa’s largest IPP investments. In addition to RG, he serves as a board member of Corbetti Geothermal and Enerwhere, a rapidly growing distributed solar utility focused on the Middle East and Africa, where he is a founding investor.
Before founding RG, Magnus was a management consultant with Booz & Company, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Marakon Associates. He has fifteen years of advisory, investment and general management experience spanning five continents, spent eight years living in the Middle East and Africa, and speaks five languages. He holds an MBA from London Business School and Columbia Business School, and a Bachelor degree (First in Class) in International Relations and Economics from Schiller International University.
