Rosa‘s basic degree is in Architecture which she received from the University of Central America José Simeón Canas (UCA), San Salvador in 1999. In 2001, she added a postgraduate degree in Business Administration also from UCA. She was a UNU Fellow at UNU-GTP in Iceland in 2008.
Rosa’s working career has been at LaGeo S.A. de C.V., the main geothermal exploration and development company in El Salvador, which she joined in 1998, as a project designer and supervisor. She has been in charge of several geothermal projects, dealing a.o.t. with development of the Chinameca and San Vicente geothermal fields and engineering projects related to the Berlin and Ahuachapan geothermal fields and their power plants. She is an expert in civil works needed for geothermal projects.
Rosa has been one of the leaders in women’s empowerment in the geothermal sector in El Salvador, and through the “Harvesting Geothermal Energy” project, she was the first place winner in the “Woman for Results” segment at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She has cooperated with UNU-GTP both in the annual UN SDGs Short Course Series for the LAC region, and held in El Salvador, and the Geothermal Diploma Course for Latin America given in El Salvador, with the financial support of the Nordic Development Fund and MFA in Iceland.
