Almudena is the focal point for renewable energy and leads geothermal and solar operations in Turkey and Armenia. From 2011-2017, she was with the Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program, where she was a core team member of the Global Geothermal Development Plan and the team leader for Technical Assistance Program for grid-connected Solar Technologies.
Almudena also led ESMAP’s Renewable Energy Training Program for World Bank and IFC staff. Prior to joining ESMAP, she worked for the Latin America and Caribbean Energy Unit of the World Bank, where she worked on renewable energy, access, and utility reform projects in Honduras, Argentina, and Nicaragua. Almudena holds a BS in Environmental Sciences from the University of Alcalá in Spain, a Masters in Environmental Engineering and Management from the Industrial Organization School in Madrid, and a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University.
